As I mentioned in my previous post on Three Lesser Known Ways To Build Blog Traffic, traffic to your blog is crucial. You could be writing the most helpful, informative blog out there but if it doesn’t have any traffic- then it’s all for nothing. Here are some less popular- but very effective- ways of doing it.

Tweet About Older Posts: Bloggers typically send out a tweet on Twitter about their newest post. So why not do this for older posts? What I have begun doing is sending out the random tweet about one of my blog’s older post. I’ll do this, maybe, once or twice every week. With the nature of Twitter, nobody can read every tweet sent out by someone they are following. By sending out tweets linking to older posts, you’ll be exposing your past work to a new audience. I would imagine most everyone reading this has a Facebook account. If you blog using Wordpress, then you owe it to yourself to check out these Wordpress plugins which will help you cross-promote your blog and Facebook profile.

WordBook (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordbook/): This handy plugin allows you to cross-post your blog posts to your Facebook Wall. Your Facebook “Boxes” tab will show your most recent blog posts.

Facebook Connector (http://www.sociable.es/2008/10/19/facebook-connector-wordpress-plugin-004/): Gives you the ability to synch your Facebook page with your blog [click to continue…]

Twitter is beginning to turn into something more than a microblogging service. While you cannot send files through the Twitter web site itself, there are new Twitter-related services and applications which do offer file sharing. Here are some to get you started:

Twittershare (http://twittershare.com/): A Mac-centric platform application which allows you to share files up to 10MB is size. There is also a web interface version you can access through their site and a Windows version is suppose to be coming soon.

FileTwit (http://www.filetwt.com/): FileTwit is a web-based service allowing you to send files up to 20MB in size. The FileTwit site itself doesn’t offer much information about its service, and the interface is lacking. Another catch is if you want to download a file sent to through FileTwit, you will have to go a separate site called RapidShare to download it.
